Floppy drive light does not go off.

Issue:

Floppy drive light does not go off.

Cause:

This issue can be caused by one of the below two possibilities.

1. Floppy drive data cable is not connected properly.
2. Floppy drive is bad.

Solution:

Floppy drive data cable is not connected properly

This issue is most commonly caused when the floppy drive data cable is not connected properly. Verify that the floppy cable pin one is connected properly to the back of the floppy drive and to the I/O \ Motherboard. Pin one is usually closest to the floppy power connector, therefore the red stripe on the floppy cable should be facing the power connector on the back of the floppy drive.

Floppy drive is bad

If the floppy drive data cable appears to be connected properly it is likely that the floppy drive is physically bad and it is recommended that it be replaced.
