| Also known as select, marquee is a
software tool that allows the
user to select multiple objects or portions of an object such as
an image or picture. To the right is an
image of what the rectangular marquee may look like. This is
the most commonly found marquee tool and some more advanced
programs such as Adobe Photoshop
may also have other marquee's such as the elliptical marquee or
other shapes. |

To use the marquee the user selects the tool and single-clicks
their mouse button and while holding down
the mouse button drags the marquee around the object they wish to
select.
Adobe Photoshop Tip: Holding down the
Shift key while using the marquee
tool will allow you to add onto your selected area. Holding down the
ALT key will while using the marquee tool
will allow you to remove portions of the selected area.
