Software word processor developed by Microsoft that is often
included on OEM computers. Microsoft Works is used as an alternate
solution to Microsoft Word because of the cost difference between
the two different programs.
Because Microsoft Works is completely different from Microsoft
Word, these programs use different types of files (Microsoft Word
documents are usually *.DOC and Microsoft Works documents are
usually *.WPS). Therefore, users who wish to open a Microsoft Works
document in Microsoft Word must convert the files to open them
properly.
- Additional help and information with converting works and
word files can be
found on document CH001017.
