Robot

  1. Coined by Karel Capek in the 1921 play RUR (Rossum's Universal Robots), robot is used to describe a computerized machine designed to respond to input received manually or from its surroundings. Today, robots are commonly used to perform repetitive and difficult tasks such as building cars and even computer equipment.
  2. The term robot is also used to describe a software program designed to perform tasks automatically.
  3. Another term to describe bots.
